About the event
Do you ever wonder how in the world people find Downward Facing Dog relaxing? Do you frequent yoga classes and struggle with transitions or wonder what the point of simply “standing at the top of your mat” is? …and how do you know, really, whether your alignment is “correct” in your body? How should it feel? Do you struggle with poses like pigeon in your body while watching others simply “melt” into it? How can you approach it differently so it feels right for you? What if you have been practicing yoga forever and just aren’t sure something feels right in your practice? What if you are a yoga instructor that just cannot figure out how to help your students with variations and adjustments?
This is just the thing. Yoga is indeed for everyone, but may look and be approached differently depending upon each BODY. Rarely in a group class setting does an instructor have the time to explain all of the different nuances and variations of each pose. No matter how good their cueing or quick assist may be, it is rare to have a full breakdown of the foundational and frequently visited poses in a group yoga setting. Wouldn’t it be nice to break it all down, toe to crown of head, so you can truly feel empowered to just experience yoga fully in YOUR body?!
Let’s do it. Join Courtney Wolfe, E-RYT200 and Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider at Pura Vida for a 2 part “Just the Basics” workshop!
This workshop will be broken down into two separate sessions:
Yoga Foundations 101 - August 11th 9:30-11am
Yoga Foundations 102 - August 25th 9:30-11am
During 101, be prepared to learn more about yoga in general, along with a breakdown on the foundational poses, or asanas, found in many Hatha, Vinyasa and Ashtanga, or “flow”-style yoga classes. In 102, we will go through different approaches through the movement in many yoga sequences as well as visit variations of common poses that may not necessarily be considered “foundational.”
This workshop is perfect for anyone new to yoga or even the seasoned yogi or instructor looking to further hone their own practice or further assist their students.
What to bring: a notebook and pen, comfortable clothing and a yoga mat, if you have one (if not, no worries - we’ve got you!) Feel free to bring a little snack, water and your favorite mug if sipping tea strikes your fancy! This will be a casual, educational workshop with plenty of time to practice, ask questions and get hands-on support. We cannot wait to see you!
